What are careers that are 'like' medicine?

I always wanted to be a physician or surgeon, but the amount of school/loans just make it not worth it. Not even counting my only %26#039;average%26#039; grades.

A Physicians Assistant (PA) is a great profession with a lot less school. A PA works under a doctor but does the same things a doctor does. A great part of being a PA is you can choose any area that interests you, so you could go into the surgery field, pediatrics and so on.

Vet science or science research (especially biomedical). But the bad news - these require good grades too

Are you looking for a career in the medical field that doesn%26#039;t require as much schooling as a physican? You can always look at careers such as nursing, medical assistant, med tech, social worker, physical therapy, chiropractor, pharmacy, etc. I like the above-poster%26#039;s veterninary recommendation. That is also an excellent career field.

Do some research and see what field interest you. You are the one that will have to figure that on your own!

Medical technicians and assistants work under (and with) specialty doctors, and with a 2-4 year degree you can have all the fun of surgical assisting in any number of medical fields! Even average grades can skyrocket when you%26#039;re really interested in the material! There are tons of these kinds of jobs and where licensure is absent, certification fills in the gap.

One more thing about the medical field... baby boomers are starting to retire, and guess what? They%26#039;ll move from being the caregiver to being the patients... and plenty of them!
