For example, lets say a poor black kid from the projects. How would a liberal try to fix the problem so that poor black kid can go to college and become a Lawyer? A liberal will say the answer to solve this problem is throw money at it. The conservative answer to this question is there are schools, there are loans, there are mass transit, all these are available now, so if you still can%26#039;t make it, blame yourself. A Chinese from the rural isolation of the countryside comes to the USA without any english, he takes advantage of the current schools, loans, and learn how to speak english, he is a lawyer, so sympathy for the american, no, I don%26#039;t think so, being lazy has its own punishments, do it to yourself, don%26#039;t blame government not helping losers.

You make a good , and obvious case for us conservatives, however, you lose ground by specifically pointing to a black kid and then later calling him a loser. Dangerous territory and destroys your credibility of those minds you are trying to perhaps change. Unless you were purposely trying to narrow your audience to deep south white folks only.

HAHAHA... yeah.. apparently you haven%26#039;t been paying attention to all the education cuts that Bush has been instituting... tuition for college has went up on average 40 percent since 2000, when Bush came into office, and he instituted no child left behind with no money to fund the program, so it just drains the system more...

Under a Republican, that black kid, or any kid growing up in that situation, will become a criminal because any support (education, financial, or healthcare) he had has been cut... and he has to eat... but the kid%26#039;s parent%26#039;s taxes have went up....

I would say that liberals are very much pro-government. The problem with that is they tend to force people to become dependent on the government which is not a good thing. I hate to say this, but our prime example was New Orleans. We (as a country) are still carrying many of those folks with our tax dollars, yet if you look at Florida, they always pull themselves up by their bootstraps and move on.

I%26#039;m a liberal, and as a liberal I can appreciate that money does not solve everything, but telling people that need help to just figure out themselves solves nothing. Honestly, that poor black kid has no chance in college because the conservatives think it is OK that public education is unjustly unequal. Even if he got into college and got the loans, he would probably flunk out because he does not have the prior knowledge to compete. If he did manage to finish even his first year, he would have worked a lot harder than everyone else, meaning less time for a job to pay for school, and a greater sacrifice than many others would be willing to give. Liberals cannot give a poor kid the determination or the hard-work to make his dream a reality, but if the only think standing in his way is money, the government should give him some.

I do not blame you for using the example of a black kid. It just points to another problem: conservatives are still unwilling to admit that a greater majority of those that are impoverished are minorities, and the educational system they are being provided is not helping them get ahead. I do blame you for calling the black kid a loser though. Even if the government did give him all the money, he would still have to work really hard to become a lawyer.
