Is there a time limit for businesses to charge customers?

I just received a bill from my dentist who I have not seen in over 3 years. I guess she dug up her files and found a few %26quot;accounting errors%26quot; and began requesting for payments. At the time I paid what I thought was the total cost that I had to pay and the rest were covered through my insurance. Now I have this bill.

I really dont want to pay and think its bogus, but I dont want to ruin my credit. Is it against the law to charge someone 3 years later (School loans does not count I know its defered). Is there a time limit?

I need to know a lot more than you have placed here in order to tell you the answer. I suggest you consult an attorney about this right away. This may be a scam.

I believe there is a time limit.
