Can some break down on how to live on a 30000 salary?

Expenses:

-1700/year (full coverage insurance for new car %26amp; I have accident record) --- Do I need full coverage for new car or is there a better deal?

- 1800: 150 * 12 months (School Loans)

- 648: 57 * 12 months (2 year contract cell plan) -- not willing to cancel plan because I want to always keep my original number.

How much should rent, utilities, food, miscellaneous (medical, car maintenance, etc), %26amp; gas cost?

My gas almost $40 per complete fill.

Any advice would help!! I really appreciate it -- I%26#039;m moving/getting kicked out of my parents house with no help.

Well, you didn%26#039;t say where you live, but in San Diego, you can get a small one bedroom apt and pay for utilities with $1000 a month. As for food and gas, you can easily get by with $500 a month, if it%26#039;s just you that you%26#039;re paying for, depending on how far you work, and how much you%26#039;re willing to go grocery shopping and eat at home.

Can some break down on how to live on a 30000 salary?

Here is how to start....

First gather all your bill and know how much you need to pay every month, that also including credit card bills. With credit card, you need to include the higher of minimum due OR the month interest accrued. Don%26#039;t forget the auto insurance or any other insurance (or let%26#039;s just say things you pay every six months or annually), and find the monthly amount for those bills. As for groceries and gasoline, you will need to start to see how much you need every month by tracking your spending. Now you are ready to total all the monthly amount required. Second, take your take home pay (after tax), and starting to subtract all the bills need to be pay. I hope is not a negative number. Okay, if you still have 15% of your income left, that is good. That means you live within your means. Save up all the 15% to a savings account. If you like to save even more than 15% of you take home pay, or you are negative after you deduct everything, start review your bills. Maybe your cell phone plan can cut down to $35 a month instead of $150 a month. Start to cut down the unnecessary stuffs. Start tracking your spending and know where your money is. If you owe more than one credit card, start paying off by focus on the highest interest rate first.

After you get a grasp of how to budget, start to look at bigger picture and focus on paying off your debts. Such as credit card debts...

Can some break down on how to live on a 30000 salary?

I think you can make that work. Here is my best go at it (by the way, I%26#039;ve helped all my brothers and sisters move out and set up budgets and stuff):

MONTHLY BUDGET

Rent/Mortgage ------------------ 1,300

Cell Phone ------------------------ 57

Car Insurance ------------------- 142

Car Registration ---------------- 15

Health Insurance ---------------- 200

Utilities ---------------------------- 100

Gas and Oil Changes--------- 100

Vacation -------------------------- 80

Clothes/Hair/Other Personal-40

Food ----------------------------- 125

Gifts -------------------------------- 30

Home Improvement ------------ 25

Entertainment -------------------- 25

Doctor and Medicine ---------- 50

Auto Repairs --------------------- 60

Dentist ----------------------------- 70

Christmas Gifts ----------------- 15

RANDOMS ----------------------- 50

That%26#039;s my best guess, and of course I don%26#039;t really know you, and you may want some more and some less. There%26#039;s also about 30 left that you can add somewhere else.

My advise to you is to divide which parts of that budget are the ones that you will be tempted to overspend on (mine are going out to eat, entertainment, clothes . . .) and the ones that you would never be tempted to overspend on (mortgage/rent, car payment, insurance . . . ).

Then add up the safe (like mortgage/rent) ones, and make sure you have that much in your bank account at the beginning of every month. You use your checks and debit cards for these ones.

Then get an envelope for each temptation spending one (like clothes), and write (in pencil because you%26#039;ll no doubt need to make adjustments) the amount you want to spend every month on it.

Get cash and fill up each envelope at the beginning of each month. Then you only use your debit cards and checks for the bank account ones, and spend cash (from your enveloped) on the other stuff.

It%26#039;s nice because you don%26#039;t have to keep track of all your spending, but it makes sure you don%26#039;t overspend. Just make sure you also make a %26quot;RANDOM%26quot; envelope for when you run out of one envelope early.

When your envelopes run out, you just have to wait till the next month before you fill them up again. I%26#039;ve been doing it for about 4 years now, and it%26#039;s worked really well. The most important part is to ONLY use your cards and checks for the non-overspend parts in your budget.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Egg donation?

How do you feel about egg donation? I am thinking of donating some of my eggs to a couple across the US who are unable to use the wife%26#039;s eggs to have a baby. So, what is your moral stance on it? Is it odd that I would have a child growing up with another couple who will never know me? (I wouldn%26#039;t carry the pregnancy, she will do that) Is it a nice thing to do or too complicated? I would have nothing to do with the child, no conatact at all. Also, should I take the $7,000 for the eggs or do it as a gift? I could use the money to pay off school loans, but I%26#039;m not sure if it would be like selling a kid. Seems creepy to say it like that. See how complicated it is?? Has anyone done this before? Was the procedure painful? Was it difficult emotionally? Did you take financial compensation? Tell me your personal experiences please, not a list of helpful websites. I have looked at them all. Thanks.

Egg donation?

Make sure in your heart first that you can do this. And live your life untroubled...It is the most awesome gift for a couple whom would never be able to share the gift of life...Or the raising and smiles of a child without someone like you.

You are a great person if or if not you do this. It%26#039;s not for everyone...There are people you can find on your own...They would let you visit, send photo%26#039;s up date%26#039;s so to speak...

Most all women take compensation...There is alot to be compensated for shots , meds you would not normally have,retrieval..Not so hot ...But do able..And your gas ,time,ect...The gift of life.

No one will be able to tell you ya or nay....Only you have the answers that your seeking...

I wish you much luck!! If this is not for you back out .You can always change your mind!! They will find someone else. They will keep going.Make sure in your heart first....You should always come first. Don%26#039;t lose yourself to give this gift!!

Good-Luck :) sparksgirlsX6@yahoo.com...If you need to talk more.

Egg donation?

Maybe some people just weren%26#039;t meant to get pregnant. Perhaps it is too risky for their bodies. There are so many children in the world waiting to get adopted into loving families that I wonder why it is so important to some people to go through all of these %26quot;Frankenstein%26quot; procedures. Personally, I think it%26#039;s creepy, but I wouldn%26#039;t try to stop someone from doing it if that%26#039;s what they wanted to do.

Egg donation?

I have never donated my eggs; but I want you to ask yourself this question... Do you really think that you would have nothing to do with this child? Maybe one day, this child will be told the truth of how she was brought into this world, then this grown person will find you and you life will never be the same after that. If YOU want to have children someday, how would they feel when they find out, years later, they have a sibling out there, somewhere. You must think in terms of the %26quot;long run%26quot;. What are the consequences of your decision? Could you really turn away your flesh and blood when he/she finds you 20 years from now? I guess I%26#039;ve seen too many movies, TV shows and talk shows about this subject, because it seems they all turn out the same way. Your past comes back to bite you in the butt. Be sure of your decision before you just give it all away.

Egg donation?

http://www.health.state.ny.us/community/...

I know I would love to be a surrogate mother, but I could never give away my eggs. There%26#039;s something different about it to me, because it%26#039;s actually my baby. If I%26#039;m a surrogate I just carry someone else%26#039;s baby. I think if you put yourself through all of that for someone you don%26#039;t know it is perfectly fine for you to take money. You are giving them a piece of you, there is no price for that. I don%26#039;t have a personal experience with egg donation, but I know if I were having troubles concieving I would want someone to donate their eggs to me. It sounds horrible, but I don%26#039;t know if I could do it for someone else. I%26#039;d think about everything hard before you make your decision. Sorry I couldn%26#039;t be of more help.

Egg donation?

As a woman who has yet to have children (but wants a couple in the future at some point), I think egg donation is a great thing.

My logic is this: if you can help someone have a child that they will love %26amp; adore, why not help them? Every month when you ovulate, the egg dissolves %26amp; is destroyed. Why not put a few to good use?

As for the religious idea of it: think of this, all children are really on loan from God, they don%26#039;t even really belong to us. We just provide a way for them to come to earth. So in this context, there is no problem in helping someone be able to raise a child.

The past fews months I have been having cycle problems %26amp; was scared of the possibilities. I was discussing this w/ my sister %26amp; she offered to let me have some eggs if I need them. Her exact words were this,%26quot;why not, they just get wasted most months anyway.%26quot; (she is currently awaiting the very soon birth of her third child) Luckily, everything is sorted out %26amp; the problem has been resolved. It was still nice knowing that I had a possibility of another way to have a child.

This is so not like selling a child. There is a reason it is called egg donation. The money needs to cover medical procedures %26amp; other expenses. Compensation for your time is a good thing. From what I know about a friend%26#039;s egg harvesting: she had to be on hormones %26amp; fertility treatments to stimulate the ovaries to have a number of eggs ready to be removed. The hormone treatments were not fun because she was really moody.

It is a serious decision %26amp; one you need to ponder like you are. If you are not truly comfortable w/ the idea, don%26#039;t do it. If you are comfortable %26amp; can let go of thinking there is a child running around who may look like you, it will be an amazing gift to give to someone who truly desires to have a child. Just thinking about it, it seems much easier that adopting to let go. You didn%26#039;t carry a child for 9 months. Egg donation is quite simple in comparison.

Be prayerful about your decision %26amp; you will make the correct choice.

Good luck!

What makes you say "I wish I knew then what I know now"?

I am 22, and would like some old wise owl information on saving money, credit cards, school loans. Any financial help since time is on my side. So what should I do now to secure financial health later?

What makes you say %26quot;I wish I knew then what I know now%26quot;?

I agree with engineer. Starting a savings plan at a young age, and having the will power not to touch it. I once calculated what I%26#039;d have now if I%26#039;d started saving a small amount each month at 21; I%26#039;d be financially secure for my entire old age.

Credit cards are only for emergencies, and for situations where it is required (renting a car, etc.). If you don%26#039;t have the cash, you can%26#039;t afford it.

Don%26#039;t be seduced by the %26quot;new car smell;%26quot; getting used cars is fine. Don%26#039;t get the latest electronic trend; its price will drop precipitously in a year or so.

Only use student loan money for necessities; don%26#039;t be fooled into thinking it%26#039;s %26quot;mad money.%26quot; Start paying it back immediately upon graduation.

What makes you say %26quot;I wish I knew then what I know now%26quot;?

The importance of early, regular investing.

What makes you say %26quot;I wish I knew then what I know now%26quot;?

It%26#039;s never too early to start saving for retirement. Max out 401K if your employer offers it, and an IRA.

Live below your means and keep a nice cushion of funds in a savings account.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

I came into the marriage with the home, and all (yes, all) of the assets. She came into the marriage with only debt. I paid off her credit card debt, and she was still working off her nursing school loans. We%26#039;ve now been married for 16 months, and in that time she has spent most of my original savings, and has not contributed to the family/ household bills one dollar. I am not exaggerating. I have not been able to save anything as I%26#039;ve had to pay my bills, her bills, and watch the savings diminish as she has (and admittedly to an extent we have) spent it all. She has never considered this %26quot;our%26quot; home, so she feels that I should be responsible for the bills and mortgage. Now, we are separated and for her to consider moving back in, she wants the security of knowing her name is on the deed to the home. I do not feel safe with that, and no, do not trust her the way she went through the savings I brought into the marriage and the attitude she has had about it.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

You realize you didn%26#039;t actually ask a question, right?

Furthermore, you left out an extremely significant detail: why are you separated?

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

It is but natural, she is looking for her security, what is the harm in adding her name in deed ?

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

Do NOT put her name on the deed to the home. If you do, it would become just as much hers as yours even though you are the one who actually paid the bills, it is your greatest asset.

It does not sound like the marriage is stable in the first place. If she is holding her name on the deed as a condition of moving back in, kick her to the curb. You need someone with the same values and sense of responsibility that you have. Otherwise, her name on the deed will eventually lead to a protracted and ugly property settlement when you finally split up for good and you will have to sell the house to satisfy the divorce court.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

first off you should have known that she was financially irresponsible before you married her based on the unpaid debt that she had accumulated.

second off, do not under any circumstances put her name on your house title.

If you do then you are a fool and you deserve whatever misfortune befalls you.

The woman is a gold digger plain and simple.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

I%26#039;m pretty sure that even if her name isn%26#039;t on the deed she is still able to get 50% of the assets in the event of a devorce. This is why prenumptuals are sometimes in place. But who want%26#039;s to be in a marriage where you have to worry about those sort of thing%26#039;s thats not how it was intended to be.. Sad situaltion, and I%26#039;m sure to some degree you have feeling%26#039;s for her maybe even think you love her. I would revaluate if this is all worth it to you. Before you allow her to move back in and possably have even more questions in the future. But I%26#039;m sorry I think your stuck out w/ your home. Do you live in a community property state?

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

Please do not put her name on the DEED. She sounds very manipulative. You already feel reservations about money situation, it will only escalate with time. It is apparent that you have different attitudes toward money. This is one single factor responsible for most of the divorces. You do not have kids (?), so you can get out of this relationship, forget about losses, and you will find someone more compatible. If you still feel attracted to her as a woman, believe me, it will pass, you will hate her a lot when you would be ordered by court to sell your house and divide money. All the love will turn into hate. She did not bring anything into the marriage and it was only short term. I do not think she will have her hands on your house. Talk to attorney and do not get back with her.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

I totally agree with Carolina. If your wife really loves you, she will be back whether her name is on the deed or not.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

Sorry to say, you should have gotten rid of her long ago.

Nice of you to pay her debts along with your own.. but you let her spend your savings!! How could you be so, ugh!

Not considering it her own home, the no need to be on the deed. No reason for her to have a piece of your property that she can%26#039;t afford.. looking for security or not no one should ever screw up someone elses finances.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

She should feel the security in you alone. It%26#039;s not the clothes a man wears but; the man himself. Just say no, next she will want a different home. Stay alert you have her game down.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

If you want to stay married to her then you%26#039;ll have to put her name on the deed to get her back. But that doesn%26#039;t guarantee she will stay with you.

I don%26#039;t think you should get back with her. Sounds like given her spending habits that you would be better off without her. Start talking to a lawyer on how to best protect yourself.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

No. You are seperated. Let her go. You didn%26#039;t have an argument. You broke up. Mature people with high integrity don%26#039;t solve problems that way.

My wife wants to put her name on the deed to my home - Thorough details?

DON%26#039;T DO IT. I made a similar mistake and paid dearly for it. I went through the same sad tale of woe %26quot;it doesn%26#039;t feel like our home.%26quot; %26quot;I don%26#039;t feel comfortable.%26quot;

It%26#039;s about laying claim to the asset and nothing more. Putting her name on the deed won%26#039;t give her any piece-of-mind. It won%26#039;t suddenly %26quot;feel like%26quot; her home. All it does is give her claim to the asset. Trust me, you don%26#039;t want that.

BIG RED FLAG! BIG ONE!

I think right now in this country and abroad, marriage %26amp; having children is a scary proposition whether you live together or not.

Today, the divorce rate is so high due to no-fault divorce. If you have kids, for women - that means they hold all the cards. A man today has to realize that, love and %26quot;the dream%26quot; aside, the risks to men/fathers far outweigh the rewards. Check the source - some great books and other resources on just this issue.

Family court is tilted heavily in favor of women/mothers. Moms have all the rights, get all the benefits, and dad is too often relegated to a visitor in his children%26#039;s lives while being an ATM machine for mom. He can lose half (or more) of the cash, cars, house, investments, etc... and worse - the children.

Seriously, if I had known then what I know now about how the divorce machine sucks in fathers, grinds them up, and spits them out so unceremoniously, I would have never gotten married. I would have given up my dream of having a family.

With no-fault divorce (the biggest killer of marriage and families) you don%26#039;t need an excuse anymore to get a divorce. You just don%26#039;t have to feel like being married anymore - and with that reality comes the truth - a marriage is no longer a contract, so what%26#039;s the point except to put yourself and your future at risk when someone %26quot;doesn%26#039;t feel like it anymore?%26quot; With women (who have children) initiating almost 3/4 of divorces today (most men don%26#039;t even see it coming), it%26#039;s the smart man who chooses not to get married and certainly not have children... and that%26#039;s a shame.

This affects men, women, and children alike. It affects everyone and people need to wake up to that reality. I know that there are lousy men and lousy fathers in this world - but make no mistake - the are plenty of lousy women and lousy mothers in this world and we should all be treated the same way (good or bad) and that simply isn%26#039;t happening today.

Her history of mismanagement of funds and her using the deed to the house to extort you for her return is criminal behavior. She has little or no claim to the house right now if you divorce... keep it that way. The divorce is coming.

In fact, you should file for divorce now. Her motivations are quite clear.

Why can't I get a job?

age? I%26#039;m 53. not worked consistently last several years-been student. possible negative reference that I don%26#039;t list? no criminal record but had bankruptcy 2003. need $ to pay off school loans when time comes!

Why can%26#039;t I get a job?

Bankruptcy won%26#039;t be a detriment to you getting a job. Lack of effort will. If you had a job, you%26#039;d spend 8 or 9 hrs a day working. Spend 8 or 9 hrs a day looking for a job and you%26#039;ll surely find one.

Why can%26#039;t I get a job?

where are you looking? my mom had a hard time finding a job at that age because a lot of people thought she was over qualified. the economy is really bad right now though and a lot of jobs are being cut. try checking with your references and seeing if they have gotten calls from employers. And keep trying. apply everywhere. remember the saying %26quot;the more mud you throw at a wall, the more will stick.%26quot;

Keep at it! It takes a long time.

What are careers that are 'like' medicine?

I always wanted to be a physician or surgeon, but the amount of school/loans just make it not worth it. Not even counting my only %26#039;average%26#039; grades.

What are careers that are %26#039;like%26#039; medicine?

A Physicians Assistant (PA) is a great profession with a lot less school. A PA works under a doctor but does the same things a doctor does. A great part of being a PA is you can choose any area that interests you, so you could go into the surgery field, pediatrics and so on.

What are careers that are %26#039;like%26#039; medicine?

Vet science or science research (especially biomedical). But the bad news - these require good grades too

What are careers that are %26#039;like%26#039; medicine?

Are you looking for a career in the medical field that doesn%26#039;t require as much schooling as a physican? You can always look at careers such as nursing, medical assistant, med tech, social worker, physical therapy, chiropractor, pharmacy, etc. I like the above-poster%26#039;s veterninary recommendation. That is also an excellent career field.

Do some research and see what field interest you. You are the one that will have to figure that on your own!

What are careers that are %26#039;like%26#039; medicine?

Medical technicians and assistants work under (and with) specialty doctors, and with a 2-4 year degree you can have all the fun of surgical assisting in any number of medical fields! Even average grades can skyrocket when you%26#039;re really interested in the material! There are tons of these kinds of jobs and where licensure is absent, certification fills in the gap.

One more thing about the medical field... baby boomers are starting to retire, and guess what? They%26#039;ll move from being the caregiver to being the patients... and plenty of them!

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they'e a nerd or re

Growing up, I was extremely near-sighted, whereas my twin has 20/20. So naturally, I had to wear glasses.

Our entire lives when we hang out together the %26quot;intellects%26quot; instantly flock to me, even though my brother is way smarter than me (he went to princeton on a scholarship, i went to state college w/school loans. lol)

Seeing as how we both look alike, it%26#039;s GOT to be the glasses. My bro is just as well spoken as me and as an accountant that has travelled the world extensively, I believe he comes across much more refined than me.

I know i sterotype people -- I flip the channel when rap videos come on, but when I saw rapper Lupe Fiasco (he wears glasses) I was like, %26quot;Hmm...maybe I%26#039;ll give him a chance%26quot;. And yeah, I ended up loving him.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

That%26#039;s an interesting story....you liked a rapper with glasses. :-)

Well, I used to wear glasses/contacts until I had Lasik surgery done and I%26#039;ve seen this from both sides. I tend to stereotype people with glasses as smart. I especially find myself attracted to guys who have really cool glasses - like frameless ones, really delicate wire rims or the thick-framed artsy-fartsy (%26lt;-yeah, a technical term) looking ones.

On the other hand, I know that guys have written me off as dating material because I wore glasses. (shrug)

Glasses can be a blessing and a curse, I suppose.

Cheers.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

not at all

cuz i know some people who wear glasses are stupid as hell

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

look i know most ppl say nerys wear glasses but .. lolz my bro is geeek and he wear glasses :P

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

No, it%26#039;s more based on personalities.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

not nerd, not really reallly smart

but i think of them as people who have at least something smart to say =)

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

nope, i wear glasses from time to time :)

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

some times i do depending on what type of glasses he has on. If they are super thick. I get a little scared but if they fit their face i would talk.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

Everybody does.

But i try to catch myself and get to know them.

But when I see someone with glasses i dnt think anything.

Usually its how they dress or who the hang around.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

My ex wore glasses from the age of 3, and was always judged by them. He was/is quite intellectually brilliant, which had nothing to do with his bad eyesight.

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

Well no Sweetie, I don%26#039;t personally assume people are smart because they wear glasses, I have to hear what they are saying and then see how they act first...

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

in general i think we all make assumptions about people by their looks... its just human nature..

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

I used to think this but I know lots of stupid people who wear glasses!

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

saddly yes

Do you find yourself sterotyping people who wear glasses -- like you assume they%26#039;e a nerd or really smart?

At first glance yes. Even my own daughter looks more smart and grown up in glasses.

No, people who wear glasses arent smarter, because there is no need to wear glasses. You can do certain eye exercises which force the eyes to focus.

Glasses encourage eyes to weaken.

not usually, because I wear glasses myself. But people always tell me I look like an innocent librarian, when they get to know me they are usually surprised.

The only stereotype I have about people with glasses is that they have some kind of vision problem so they need corrective lenses.

well it depends on the person, of course. some people look nerdy with or without glasses and some people don%26#039;t. i start to sterotype people with glasses sometimes, but then i look beyond that.

I absolutely hate stereotype. Sooo naturally I am not going to stereotype people. Stereotypes are WRONG and I dont believe in them. If I see a guy with glasses I dont automatically think %26quot;oh he wears glasses so he must be a dork and not have a girlfriend%26quot; Noooooo thats wrong and stupid it just means the persons vision is f%26#039;ked up. Or if I see a arab person I dont think %26quot;oh hes gonna blow something up%26quot; Dumb again. We need to get over stereotypes.
